Maldives of Greece or maybe Seychelles of Greece? Whatever you call it, you guys will be amazed by the beauty of the exotic complex of 7 islets we visited this time, officially called “Lichadonisia” .(Λιχαδονήσια). Turquoise waters, white sandy lagoons and a cargo ship wreck since 1943. We were so lucky to watch and swim with a family of Mediterranean monk seals (Monachus monachus) playing just next to our boat. Lichadonisia were formed after volcanic activity while a large part of the islands sank from an earthquake in 426 B.C. Their name came from Lichas, the servant of Hercules, who handed him the tunic of Deianeira, according to mythology and because when Hercules held him responsible for the tunic, hurled him to the sea. From the pieces and his blood were formed the Lichades islands! The islands are located opposite to Lichada cape in the north-western extreme of Evia. We left early morning from Athens and we headed to Kamena Vourla, a beautiful seaside town where we rented our own boat to the islets.
